What to Expect From Our Installation Process

Fireplace installations may require multiple visits. We’ll schedule your layout, installation, and any return trips within arrival windows that work for your schedule. Our layout personnel are skilled in fireplace venting and gas system design—not general construction—so they’ll focus on creating an efficient, code-compliant plan tailored to your chosen unit.

While every effort is made to prepare thoroughly, preexisting site conditions or unforeseen obstacles may require adjustments during the install. Install dates depend on product delivery from our suppliers and may change with little notice. If a delay occurs, your Hearth Coordinator will notify you promptly.

If your equipment arrives but key components are backordered, we can begin partial installation and return later to finish. Your fireplace won’t be operable until all components are in place. All equipment is inspected for damage upon arrival at our Ferndale warehouse, but if damage is discovered later, we’ll notify you and offer either a discount or reordering.

We collect payment on installation day or within 48 hours of final inspection. If any parts are backordered, those costs will be withheld until installation is complete.

How to Prepare for Your Installation

To ensure a safe and efficient installation, please clear an 8-foot radius around the installation area and create a path from your home’s entry to the workspace. While we do our best to reduce dust and debris, it’s wise to cover nearby valuables such as artwork, electronics, and furniture.

Homeowners are not required to stay onsite, though we recommend being present at the beginning and end of the installation to address questions and oversee startup. For everyone’s safety, children and pets should be kept away from the work zone.

If venting is being added to an existing chimney, cleaning may be necessary before installation. Once your fireplace is operational, you may notice haze or odor during the initial "burn-off" period. This is normal and temporary. We highly recommend installing a carbon monoxide detector in the same room as your new fireplace.
