This initiative represents our ongoing promise to give back in meaningful ways to the people and causes that make Bellingham and Northwestern Washington such a special place to call home.

Each month, through Barron KARES, we feature a local nonprofit or charity that reflects the values we live by—and we donate $110 from select system purchases such as tankless water heaters, heat pumps, solar installations, and generators. Why $110? It stems from a piece of wisdom passed down from owner John Barron’s mentor: "Always give 110%." It’s a standard of service and heart we apply in everything we do.

More than just dollars, our donations represent a deeply personal and hands-on commitment to our community. From the Boys & Girls Clubs of Skagit County to the Melodic Caring Project, we aim to highlight and support those doing powerful work. In recent months, we’ve proudly donated over $10,000 to organizations such as Lydia Place, Brigid Collins Family Support Center, and the Whatcom Council on Aging, supporting services ranging from family housing and mental health to senior care and childhood enrichment.

Our monthly features raise awareness and provide financial support for vital community efforts. For example, in May 2025, we donated $11,330 to the Melodic Caring Project, which provides live music and emotional support to those facing serious illness. In June, we honored the Whatcom Council on Aging, recognizing their tireless work empowering local seniors through wellness and connection.

Christmas in July and Our Furnace Fund

At Barron Heating AC Electrical & Plumbing, giving back to our community is a year-round priority, and that’s the heart of our Christmas in July program. Each summer, we celebrate the spirit of the holidays early by helping families across Bellingham and Northwestern Washington stay safe, comfortable, and warm in their homes. The holidays may be months away, but we believe there’s no wrong time to offer a gift that changes lives.

Through Christmas in July, we donate Single-Zone Daikin Ductless Heat Pumps to three deserving families living within our service area. These systems provide energy-efficient heating and cooling, delivering year-round comfort, especially for households that may otherwise face winter without reliable heat. It’s our way of helping eliminate one more worry for families experiencing hardship, and ensuring they can enjoy a safe, climate-controlled home.

But our commitment doesn’t stop with just three systems. For every Daikin comfort system purchased during the summer, we contribute $100 toward our December "Furnace Fund." This fund is used to install furnaces in the homes of additional families in need—those who are nominated by caring neighbors, friends, and community members.

Game Changer

At Barron Heating AC Electrical & Plumbing, supporting our community means championing the people who make it strong, especially our local student-athletes. That’s why we created the Game Changer program: to recognize outstanding high school athletes and give back to their schools in a meaningful way. Each year, we award a $1,000 grant to one area high school at the close of the football and basketball regular seasons.

Here’s how it works: For every local high school football and basketball game broadcast live by Cascade Radio Group’s KPUG and KGMI, one player from each team is selected as that game’s "Game Changer." Their schools are entered into a drawing for the season-end grant, and each athlete receives a custom "Game Changer" t-shirt, honoring their impact on and off the field.

We’re proud to recognize the difference these students make on the scoreboard and in their communities.

Dan L. Barron Trades Scholarship

We believe in investing in the future of our industry and our community. The Dan L. Barron Trades Scholarship was established to honor our founder’s legacy and inspire the next generation of trades professionals. With a nationwide shortage of skilled labor, careers in plumbing, electrical, and HVAC services are more vital and rewarding, than ever. For every five professionals retiring from the trades, only one is entering. That gap needs to be filled with well-trained, passionate individuals ready to serve and grow.

Dan Barron founded this company nearly 50 years ago with a commitment to providing quality service and supporting his employees with stable, fulfilling careers. Today, we carry that mission forward by encouraging others to pursue meaningful work in the trades.

Each year, Barron Heating AC Electrical & Plumbing proudly awards two $5,000 scholarships to Bellingham Technical College—one to a current employee or family member, and one to a community member eager to launch a career in HVAC, Electrical, or Plumbing.
